#1 – Remember the business studies syllabus by heart!

Remember the syllabus by heart! Depending on what type of learner you are (such as an Auditory, Visual, Verbal, Logical, Physical, Social or Solitary) there are many ways you can remember the syllabus! #2 – Make a list of band 6 buzz words

Make a list of buzz words!

  1. Pushing the envelope: means testing limits and trying out new, often radical ideas.
  2. Competitive advantage: refers to factors that allow a company to produce goods or services better or more cheaply than its rivals.
  3. Efficiency: Is the ability to avoid wasting materials, energy, efforts, money, and time in doing something or in producing a desired result.
  4. Bottle neck: A point of congestion in a production system (such as an assembly line or a computer network) that occurs when workloads arrive too quickly for the production process to handle. The inefficiencies brought about by the bottleneck often creates delays and higher production costs.
  5. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): A performance indicator or key performance indicator is a type of performance measurement. KPIs evaluate the success of an organization or of a particular activity in which it engages.
  6. Sharp-witted strategy: having or showing an ability to think and react very quickly.

Other box words could include, Leverage, Exit Strategy, Holistic approach Empowerment, Generation X (born after WWII), Synergy, Organic Growth, Lead Time and Yielding (under pressure).

Create a list of prominent people who have a significant impact on Business in Australia! Some examples of this could be the Prime Minister of Australia, Minister for Finance, State Premier, CEO of Qantas, A current affair news reporter, Radio hosts, RBA Government Officials, Editor of The Australian Financial Review.

#4 – List of band 6 Facts

Develop a list of important business facts that relate to your case study. For example, making a list of important facts about Qantas, Australian population numbers, Qantas year on year growth, revenue and bottom line profits.

Pick multiple case studies to choose from! Some popular case studies are Qantas, Meriton, Wesfarmers, McDonald’s, Coles, Ferrari and Patrick Corporation.

#5- Perfect business studies exam technique

Perfect your exam techniques and complete plenty of practice questions. As a general rule of thumb, it is important to ensure, in an exam to underline exactly where the marker will be rewarding you with marks. For example: 4 Marks = Underline 4 points; 6 Marks = Underline 6 points; 8 Marks = Underline 8 points etc.
