NSW's selective high schools take academically high-achieving students from Year 7. Students sit the Selective High School Placement Test in May of Year 6. It is done on a computer and has four parts: reading, mathematical reasoning, thinking skills and writing.
Students in Years 4 to 6 aiming for a NSW selective high school. Preparation works best when it starts well before the test, so skills have time to grow.
