What is the HSC?
The Higher School Certificate (HSC) is the qualification NSW students work towards in Years 11 and 12. Each HSC course is marked half on school-based assessment through Year 12 and half on the HSC exams held at the end of the year. English is compulsory, and most students’ ATAR is calculated from their best ten units, including two units of English.
Who is HSC tutoring for?
Students in Year 11 building the foundation for their HSC courses, and Year 12 students preparing for assessment tasks, trial exams and the HSC itself. Whether a student wants to lift a result or protect a strong one, the support is built around where they are.
What we help with
- English: understanding texts, planning and writing essays, creative writing and responding to unseen texts
- Mathematics: Standard, Advanced and Extension courses, from concepts to exam-style problems
- Assessment tasks: understanding the task, planning, drafting and revising
- Trials and HSC exams: revision plans, past papers and exam technique
- Study skills: organising notes, managing time and keeping on top of the workload
How HSC support works at Success Tutoring
In Years 11 and 12, every student is studying their own courses, so instead of a set program our tutors work on the work students have from school. Each week, students bring what they are studying and what is coming up, and their tutor helps them understand it, practise it and stay ahead of deadlines.
Why choose Success Tutoring for the HSC?
Built around school. We work on your child’s own subjects and assessments, not generic material.
Steady, not last-minute. Regular sessions keep students on top of content all year, not just before exams.
Less stress. Students who understand their work and have a plan feel far calmer at exam time.
